WGM Microrod Laser Fabricated by pulsed CO2 Laser Micromilling

چکیده
Introduction Whispering Gallery Mode (WGM) microlasers have been of a great interest owing to their low threshold and narrow linewidth lasing due to their high Q and small mode volume. Most of the fabrication methods [1-3] are non-controllable and non-reproducible which rely on fiber-tip melting, such as microspheres [3, 4] or splicing of small active-fiber stubs [3]. Microresonators are realized by heating up and melting the material using continuous wave CO2 lasers. We use a method based on pulsed CO2 laser which enables controllable ablation of fiber surface. We achieved precise control of the cavity length and ablation depth in a very short fabrication time, as a simplified one-step process to form a WGM microresonator from a Yb3+-doped silica fiber.

متن کاملPulsed Laser Assisted Micromilling for Die/Mold Manufacturing
Laser assisted machining is an alternative to conventional machining of hard and/or difficult-to-process materials which involves pre-heating of a focused area with a laser beam over the surface of the workpiece to cause localized thermal softening along the path of the cutting action. The main advantage that laser assisted machining has over conventional machining is the increased material rem...
متن کاملInfluence of shielding gas composition on weld structure in pulsed Nd: YAG laser welding
This work studied the effect of additions of carbon dioxide to argon shielding gas on the weld shape and microstructure of ST14 steel in pulsed Nd: YAG laser welding. By additions of carbon dioxide up to 15%,the weld area and depth/width ratio decreases while rising of carbon dioxide up to 25% causes increasing of weld area and depth/width ratio. It is observed that the weld metal microstructur...

Background and Aim: Undesirable appearance of the scar tissue after aesthetic surgery can affect the outcomes and patient satisfaction. In recent years, early laser therapy had been encouraged to reduce the scar tissue formation. However, the available evidence regarding the outcomes of laser therapy utilizing combined lasers are limited. In the current study, the effects of combined laser ther...
